Fraction Plan Measurements
|
Q: I'm wondering why all plans to build wood furniture all have measurements ending in fractions such as 5/16, 3/8, 15/16ths etc. Why not round off to even numbers?
A: Carol Reed: You can. That measuring system is called metric. Simply convert the fraction to a decimal and multiple by 25.4. That equals millimeters. I use metric every chance I can, simply because I don't like fractions either.
